Changes Coming to Car Rear Lights - New European Safety System

As of 2026, the European Union will make the installation of a new active safety system mandatory in cars: the adaptive emergency braking light. This system is activated in the event of sudden braking, causing the rear lights to flash intensely, thus warning following drivers. This decision aims to reduce traffic accidents, especially on highways and national roads. The system operates automatically and distinguishes between a sudden emergency stop and a simple slowdown. In some versions, the fog lights are also activated for additional visual warning. The implementation of the system is part of a broader effort to enhance vehicle safety in Europe.
