Devastating Landslide in Sicily Forces Evacuations – Homes Slide Down Cliffs

A devastating landslide has hit the town of Niscemi in eastern Sicily, forcing over a thousand residents to evacuate their homes. The landslide, caused by heavy rainfall and Storm Harry, has a front exceeding four kilometers. Authorities have declared a 'red zone' in the area and do not rule out an increase in the number of evacuations. Several homes have been damaged, but no injuries have been reported so far. Damages are estimated at 740 million euros, and one of the two main roads connecting the town to the rest of Sicily has been closed.
