Cyprus Union Calls for Income Tax Calculation Based on Family Status

The 'Isotita' (Equality) Pan-Cypriot Union has submitted a request to the Accountant General of the Republic of Cyprus, Andreas Antoniades, to adjust the payroll calculation and tax withholding based on the new tax relief measures of 2025. The union seeks to ensure that the relief has an immediate impact on the disposable income of civil servants, by calculating tax based on their family and housing status. It is believed that calculating tax solely on gross income would financially burden families in need. 'Isotita' proposes incorporating personal allowances into the monthly calculation and extending this application to the accounting departments of Public Law Organizations, ensuring a uniform and fair tax policy throughout the public sector.
