State Aid Commissioner: Support Measure for Foot-and-Mouth and Other Diseases

The State Aid Control Commissioner, Stella Michailidou, issued a decision on a support measure concerning the management of diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease and others, responding to a relevant request. The measure will be implemented by the Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Agriculture and will cover animal owners throughout the Republic of Cyprus, excluding large enterprises. The measure aims to implement programs to address emergency cases of diseases included in Emergency Action Plans, as well as to develop and implement special programs to address these diseases. The list of diseases includes foot-and-mouth disease, bovine plague, Rift Valley fever, nodular dermatitis, sheep and goat pox, small ruminant plague, horse plague, glanders, classical and African swine fever, avian influenza, and avian pseudoplague. The legal basis of the measure is the European Regulation 2022/2472. The Commissioner's decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic on March 13, 2026, and the measure came into force on that date. The remainder of the measure remains subject to the Commissioner's evaluation, as determined in a previous decision.
