Erhurman: Military Balancing Act with Turkey is Unrealistic

Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman expresses the opinion that efforts to achieve a military balance in Cyprus against Turkey are unrealistic and endanger the security of the island and its inhabitants. He argues that these efforts, including military alliances and agreements, do not take into account the will of the Turkish Cypriot people and are inconsistent with the status quo. Erhurman states that the Cypriot economy, particularly tourism, is vulnerable to any disruption of security, and points to the increasing military presence of foreign powers on the island. Furthermore, he refers to previous statements by former Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras regarding the Annan Plan, highlighting the peculiarity of Cyprus's geographical location and the need to avoid actions that could endanger the safety of its residents. Finally, he emphasizes that the Turkish Cypriot people do not want to pay the price for mistakes that are not their own.
