T/C leader Tufan Erhurman stated that he did not detect any decrease in the interest of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in developments in the Cyprus issue, following their meeting in New York. Erhurman stated that Guterres expressed a desire for more frequent contact, which he considers positive. They discussed the four-point methodology for resolving the Cyprus issue, confidence-building measures, and proposals for new crossing points. Erhurman emphasized the will of the T/C people for a solution and reiterated his view that 5+1 format meetings are not suitable for discussing confidence-building measures, as these should be discussed directly between the two leaders. The meeting with Guterres lasted longer than scheduled, indicating the Secretary-General's interest in the issue. Mr. Erhurman stated that they informed Guterres about their proposals for new crossing points and reiterated his view that more frequent contact is important for promoting the resolution of the Cyprus issue.
