Erhurman: Issuance of Vehicle Permits Begins at Zodia Crossing

Tufan Erhurman announced that the issuance of vehicle permits for cars from the occupied territories with registration numbers from the pseudo-state has begun at the Zodia crossing, while issuance at the Deryneia crossing has not yet started due to staff shortages. The issue of increasing crossing points was raised by Erhurman in a trilateral meeting in December. Referring to the UN Secretary-General's visit to Ankara, Erhurman described the awarding of the prize to Guterres as scheduled and avoided giving excessive importance to his meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister, while emphasizing that the UN's interest in the Cyprus issue remains. He stressed that there is diplomatic activity, although it could be faster if there were no war situation. The negotiators continue to meet weekly, while Erhurman rejected the expectation of a "quick resolution" to the Cyprus issue, pointing out that nine years have passed since Crans Montana. He considered it unrealistic to expect a solution in a short period of time, as diplomatic processes take time. Finally, Erhurman reiterated his concerns about the military agreements concluded by the Republic of Cyprus with various countries, arguing that they make the region more sensitive. He responded to criticism of his harsh language, stating that he uses the language of peace and logic.
