Erhurman: Checkpoints as a Test of Political Will - “Everyone Must Take Responsibility”

T/C leader Tufan Erhurman criticized the stagnation in the issue of opening new crossing points and improving existing ones, characterizing it as a test of political will. He argued that the inability to resolve such a simple issue indicates the leaders' inability to reach a solution to the Cyprus problem. Mr. Erhurman referred to the problems faced by citizens at the checkpoints, especially in Agios Dometios, and reiterated proposals for Mia Milia, Louroutzina and Pyroi. He emphasized that increasing crossings may benefit the economy of the free areas, but the priority is to facilitate daily life and contact between the two communities. He called on all parties to take responsibility for advancing the process of resolving the Cyprus issue.
