Survey: Cypriots Trust EU's Ability to Enhance Defence-Security

A new Eurobarometer survey reveals growing concern among European citizens about security and increased confidence in the European Union to enhance defence and security. 52% of Europeans trust the EU in this area. In Cyprus, the level of trust is particularly high, reaching 73%, one of the highest in the EU. The survey shows that 68% of Europeans feel that their country's security is threatened, while in Cyprus this figure rises to 76%. Also, 42% of Europeans feel that their personal safety is at risk, while in Cyprus the figure is 52%. Regarding investments in defence, 32% of Europeans believe that the EU is not investing enough, while in Cyprus this figure is 26%. The survey was conducted on a sample of 513 Cypriot and 27,292 European citizens, demonstrating strong support from Cypriot public opinion for the role of the EU in strengthening defence and security, especially in a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
