Heavy hail fell at noon on Thursday in the Louvara – Gerasa area of the Limassol province, while landslides were also reported in the Louvara – Kalou Choriou area. Police urge drivers to be particularly careful, drive at low speeds and keep a safe distance. The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning for heavy storms, hail and strong winds, which is valid from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The weather forecast predicts rain and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon, with northwesterly to northeasterly winds, light to moderate, and occasionally strong on the windward side. Hail is expected in thunderstorms. Tonight, locally increased clouds are expected with isolated rain or thunderstorms, mainly in coastal and mountainous areas. The winds will be westerly to northwesterly, light to moderate, and locally strong on the windward side. The temperature will drop to 9 degrees Celsius inland, around 10 on the south and east coasts, around 13 on the west and north coasts and 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected locally. Tomorrow, locally increased clouds are expected in the west and north, with isolated rain or thunderstorms, while from noon onwards cloudy weather will prevail with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, especially on the west and south coasts. Hail may fall in thunderstorms, while snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos. The temperature will rise to 19 degrees Celsius inland, around 20 on the southeastern and eastern coasts, around 17 on the other coasts and 8 degrees in the higher mountains. For Saturday, Sunday and Monday, intermittent local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected, with the possibility of hail on the highest peaks of Troodos.
