GESY Coverage for Resettled Maronites

The Cypriot government has announced that it will propose a plan to fully cover the healthcare of resettled Maronites through the GESY (General Healthcare System). The announcement was made by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, during the celebration of Saint Maron in Nicosia. President Christodoulides assured that the issues of the displaced persons, and especially the Maronites, are high on the agenda of his meetings with the United Nations Secretary-General and the Turkish Cypriot leader. He expressed his hope for positive responses in discussions to be held on February 24th. The President reiterated the government's appreciation for the Maronite community, emphasizing its contribution to Cypriot society and economy. He praised the long-standing cooperation between the community and the government and pledged to improve the quality of life for Maronites, both in the free areas and in the occupied territories. It is noted that fourteen Maronite villages are under Turkish occupation, and President Christodoulides emphasized the government's commitment to the liberation and reunification of Cyprus.
