Livadi Akrotiri Closed Proactively to Protect Free Cows

Livadi Akrotiri, an area with marshes and reedbeds, has been closed to the public by the Veterinary Services to protect the rare native cows that graze there from foot-and-mouth disease. The road to Livadi is closed and will remain so until further notice. Access to the orchards in the area is via road M1. Livadi Akrotiri is a popular destination for tourists and locals, as it hosts these rare cows, whose presence contributes to the sustainable management of the reedbeds and the preservation of biodiversity. The area is an important ecosystem and the protection of the animals is a priority.
