Lagarde Calls for Targeted Measures to Boost Economy

The President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde, called for the adoption of targeted and temporary measures to strengthen the Eurozone economy, addressing the consequences of the war in Ukraine. She stressed the need to maintain sound public finances and accelerate the green and digital transition. Lagarde referred to the need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote innovation. She also highlighted the importance of adopting the digital euro to strengthen Europe's strategic autonomy and financial integration. The ECB predicts inflation will rise to 2.6% this year, returning to 2% in 2027 and 2.1% in 2028. GDP growth forecasts are 0.9% this year, 1.3% in 2027 and 1.4% in 2028.
