The Ministry of Interior has begun procedures to recover Turkish Cypriot properties, increasing scrutiny of leases for commercial spaces and residences. Inspections of 4032 commercial lease agreements revealed violations in 512 cases, resulting in the termination of 280 contracts and the recovery of 66 properties. Similar violations were found in contracts with municipalities and communities, leading to terminations and warning letters. The inspections extended to residences, where violations were identified in 31 out of 91 inspected properties, with 6 homes recovered and measures planned for another 3. Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior plans to increase the currently low rents for Turkish Cypriot properties, making them available based on measurable criteria and new procedures.
