Preparations Underway for Larnaca's European Capital of Culture 2030

Preparations are in the final stages for Larnaca to take on the title of European Capital of Culture for 2030. Kelly Diapouli, Artistic Director of Larnaca 2030, stated that official recognition from the Deputy Ministry of Culture is expected, following the adoption of the expert committee's advisory decision. After the official recognition, the process of establishing the company that will manage the project, which has a budget of 27 million euros, will begin. The recruitment of key personnel, such as the General Director and the Head of Communication and Marketing, is already underway, with a target completion date of March. Subsequently, the artistic team will be staffed. The initial period will focus on securing funding and finalizing the terms of disbursement of the 10 million euros already committed by the Deputy Ministry of Culture. Furthermore, funding is expected from European programs, as well as contributions from the Municipality of Larnaca (7.5 million euros) and the Larnaca Provincial Self-Government Organization (2 million euros). A portion of the funding will also come from sponsorships (approximately 3.5 million euros) and from submitting applications to competitive European programs (2 million euros). Larnaca has already secured funding from two European programs and is expected to submit new applications to cover the total cost of the project. The preparation process is progressing rapidly, with an emphasis on organization, management, and securing the necessary resources for the successful implementation of the program.
