23% Increase in Ship Registry and Industry Strengthening in the Ministry of Shipping's 2025 Report

The Deputy Ministry of Shipping presented its annual report for 2025, highlighting a significant increase in the ship registry by 23% in terms of gross tonnage, reaching a 25-year high. The contribution of ship management to GDP increased by 17%, while revenue from the tonnage tax system increased by 8.6%. Deputy Minister of Shipping, Marina Hadjimanoli, emphasized the importance of strengthening Cypriot shipping and referred to relations with countries in the Arabian Gulf, as well as the successful organization of the Maritime Cyprus 2025 International Conference. The Cyprus-Greece maritime passenger connection shows steady growth, while the cruise industry has recovered with a 30% increase in cruise ship arrivals. For 2026, the Deputy Ministry aims to complete a framework for attracting shipping-related services and pleasure craft, as well as the complete digitization of its services. Cyprus's assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union represents an opportunity to highlight the role of shipping at European level.
