Zelenskyy Seeks Support from Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Archbishop of Cyprus, Georgios, seeking his support for Ukraine. Zelenskyy briefed the Archbishop on Ukraine's efforts to achieve peace and emphasized the critical importance of humanitarian aid, including medical and food assistance, as well as the restoration of religious monuments. Archbishop Georgios expressed his hope for the liberation of Ukraine and emphasized his belief that God will help the Ukrainian people. He also mentioned his communication with Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv. Zelenskyy thanked the Archbishop for the warm welcome and remembrance of Ukraine, as well as for the invitation to visit Kyiv. The Archbishop accepted the invitation, expressing his desire to visit the Orthodox churches of Ukraine. The two men agreed that the situations in Cyprus and Ukraine are similar, as both countries are under occupation. They also discussed further strengthening the ties between their churches.
