Yellow Warning Issued: Heavy Storms Expected

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for heavy storms expected on Monday, March 23, from 11:00 to 17:00. The storms will mainly affect the interior of the island, with rainfall intensity that may reach 35-50 millimeters per hour and the possibility of hail. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy in the morning, but will become mainly cloudy at noon and early afternoon, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will be southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate (3-4 Beaufort), and the sea will be up to slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coast, and to 5 degrees in the higher mountains. Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy, with the possibility of isolated showers on the coast. Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, light (3 Beaufort), and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will drop to 5 degrees inland, around 9 on the south and east coasts, around 10 on the west and north coasts, and to 1 degree in the higher mountains, where frost will form locally.
