White House responds to Europeans: Greenland would be better protected by the US

The White House is responding to European reactions regarding a potential US intervention in Greenland, insisting that Greenland would be better protected under US responsibility. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly stated that President Trump believes Greenland is strategically important and that Greenlanders would be better served by the US against modern threats in the Arctic. Trump advisor Stephen Miller argued that no other NATO member would militarily defend Greenland, emphasizing the importance of strength and power in global politics. These statements contrast with those of European leaders who have supported Denmark and Greenland. European leaders stressed that Greenland belongs to its people and that the decision about the country's future rests with Denmark and Greenland. Scandinavian countries also expressed their support for Denmark and Greenland, calling on the US to cooperate with other NATO members for Arctic security. Danish MP Rasmus Jarlov accused the US of "almost starting a war with an allied country" and that the discussion about Greenland's need for protection is "absolute nonsense," as the US is the one threatening Greenland.
