When Sakis Rouvas Pole Vaulted – The Greek Star Met His Old Coach

Before becoming one of the most successful singers in Greece, Sakis Rouvas had a brilliant career in athletics. He was a talented pole vaulter, with a personal best of 4.40m, a record for the Ionian Islands for many years. He started with artistic gymnastics and then turned to track and field, where he trained with Pavlos Skordilis. Rouvas competed with the national youth team and finished fourth in the Panhellenic Youth Championship. Despite his success in athletics, he decided at the age of 18 to leave athletics and pursue singing, a choice that was justified by his career. Although he stopped competing professionally in athletics, Rouvas maintains his love for pole vaulting. He recently attended Fly Athens Indoor and took pictures with the club's athletes, as well as with his old coach, Pavlos Skordilis. He expressed his admiration for Manolo Ilias, the top Greek pole vaulter. Sakis Rouvas continues to follow his favorite sport and support the athletes, proving that his love for athletics remains alive despite his successful music career.
