Western Greece battered by Storms: Landslides, Floods and Damage

Published February 15, 2026, 09:31

The severe weather is causing significant destruction in Western Greece, particularly in Preveza, Parga, Messinia, and Ileia. Landslides have closed roads in Epirus, including the Ionian Motorway near Sykoulа. In Preveza, the national road to Igoumenitsa faces continuous rockfalls and coastal areas and greenhouses have been flooded. In Parga, a rock broke off and destroyed a vehicle. In Messinia, damage occurred to crops and greenhouses, with the collapse and subsequent demolition of a building facade. The water level of the Alfios River is at risk of overflowing, with problems in other rivers as well. The worsening weather is expected to exacerbate the situation further.
