“We Had Babies and Women, They Started Crying”: Organizer of Paphos Party Speaks Out After Police Raid

A large police operation took place at a restaurant in Paphos on Saturday evening, resulting in the arrest of four individuals on charges of illegal possession of property and an offensive weapon. The party organizer, speaking anonymously, described a scene of panic and disruption as police searched all eighty guests, including women and children. He claimed that the arrested individuals had no connection to the party and that the operation was disproportionately large, causing concern among the guests. The organizer expressed the view that the operation was excessive and could affect his reputation, given that the party was attended by businesspeople and friends. He stressed that the police were simply doing their job, but without justification. The operation involved members of the Anti-Terrorist Squad and MMAAD, which the organizer considered excessive. Despite his criticism, the organizer stated that he has full confidence in the work of the Ministry of Justice and the Police. He explained that he is involved in various fields, such as proteins and SEO, and has no connection to illegal activities. He believed that the police could have handled the situation differently, focusing only on the arrested individuals. On the other hand, the Police, through Communication Officer Christodoulos Konsolas, thanked the organizer for his support and explained that in such operations there is no set pattern for who is checked and who is not, as the goal is to combat organized crime.
