Venezuela: Rodriguez Creates Committee to Secure Maduro's Release

The interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, announced the formation of a committee tasked with securing the release of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, from the United States. Mr. Maduro, who is accused by Washington of “drug trafficking” and “terrorism,” was detained the day before yesterday in a New York detention center and is expected to appear before a New York judge later today. The “high-level” committee will be led by Information Minister Freddy Ñañez, Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodriguez, and Foreign Minister Ivan Gil. This move comes in response to Maduro's recent arrest and the Venezuelan government's efforts to bring him back home.
