Venezuela: Protest Demands Release of President Maduro from US Custody

Approximately 2,000 supporters of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro demonstrated in Caracas, demanding his immediate release following his capture by US special forces. Maduro and his wife are being held in New York and are accused by the Trump administration of drug trafficking and terrorism. Protesters chanted slogans against the US and expressed their support for Maduro, with some carrying weapons. Donald Trump stated that power in Venezuela is under the control of the US. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has assumed interim duties for 90 days. Protesters are eagerly awaiting a United Nations Security Council meeting, hoping for a unanimous condemnation of the US military intervention.
