Venezuela: Delcy Rodriguez Sworn In as President as Maduro Faces US Drug Trafficking Charges

Delcy Rodriguez was sworn in today as interim president of Venezuela, while Nicolas Maduro appeared in a New York federal court to face drug trafficking charges. Rodriguez, formerly vice president and minister of petroleum, was sworn in by her brother, Jorge, who is the president of the National Assembly. The inauguration took place in the presence of lawmakers elected in May, while the opposition, led by Maria Corina Machado, boycotted the process. Maduro, in court, declared himself the legitimate president of Venezuela and stated he was a "prisoner of war".
