Vehicle License Renewals Begin: Penalties Apply for Late Submissions

The process of renewing vehicle licenses has begun, with a deadline of March 11, 2026. Licenses can be renewed for 3, 6, 9, or 12 months. If the deadline is exceeded, a surcharge of €10 plus 10% of the license cost will be imposed. A certificate of roadworthiness and insurance is required for renewal. Citizens facing difficulties with the internet can be served at the Provincial Offices of the Department of Road Transport, Citizen Service Centres (KEP) and One-Stop Shops (KEPO). The Department of Road Transport advises citizens not to wait until the last days to avoid system overload. Those who do not renew their license must declare the vehicle as immobilized, otherwise it will be removed from the register.
