Ustel Rules Out Early 'Elections'

Unnal Ustel, President of the National Unity Party (KEP) and 'Prime Minister', has ruled out the possibility of early elections in Turkish Cyprus, responding to rumors and statements from the Turkish Cypriot 'opposition'. He emphasized that the priority of his 'government' is to serve the public and promote legislative work. Mr. Ustel stated that any decision on early elections would be made in consultation with his partners and after discussion with the opposition. He confirmed that there are no illegal practices and that the 'government' will continue to enact legislation, possibly in cooperation with the opposition. The President of the Republican Turkish Party (RTP), Sila Usar Incirli, had earlier expressed the wish for early elections.
