Ustel on President's Speech to EP: 'One-Sided Approach and Distortion'

The President of the KEE and 'Prime Minister' of the occupied territories, Unal Ustel, criticized President Christodoulides' speech to the European Parliament, describing it as a 'one-sided approach' that distorts facts and ignores the 'people' of the occupied territories. He argued that Turkey 'saved' Turkish Cypriots from extinction in 1974 and that this cannot be disputed. Mr. Ustel accused the EU of ignoring the will of Turkish Cypriots and that the acceptance of the Greek Cypriot side into the EU has disrupted the balance on the island. He reiterated the position for a two-state solution, while the 'Speaker of the Assembly' of the occupied territories also criticized President Christodoulides for his reference to 'occupying Turkey'.
