Ustel and Ertugruloglu React to President's Statements - 'Products of Fantasy'

The 'prime minister' and 'foreign minister' of the breakaway regime, Unal Ustel and Tahsin Ertugruloglu, criticized statements made by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, regarding the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the status of the British Bases. Ustel argued that the 'Greek Cypriot mentality' has remained unchanged since 1821, while rejecting the condition of Turkey's recognition of the Republic of Cyprus for discussions regarding the Bases. Ertugruloglu described statements targeting the presence of the Turkish army on the island as 'products of fantasy', reiterating the position of 'two sovereign and equal states' and emphasizing that the presence of Turkish armed forces is non-negotiable. Meanwhile, the President of the National Defense Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Hulusi Akar, held contacts in the occupied territories, meeting with the 'president' of the 'parliament', Ziya Ozgurkel. Akar stated that all necessary measures have been taken for the security of Turkish Cypriots, referring to aircraft and defense systems. He reiterated the position that the federal solution has been exhausted, favoring a two-state solution. Answering a question about military movements in the occupied Karpasia, Akar said that Turkey's mission is deterrence and not war.
