US Use of Tympou Airport Not Confirmed

According to Turkish Cypriot media reports, the US Department of Defense has neither confirmed nor denied claims regarding the use of the illegal Tympou airport for operations against Iran. The Pentagon responded that areas where the US European Command operates regularly host American military aircraft based on agreements with allies, but further details cannot be disclosed for security reasons. The report emphasizes that the official US military presence in Cyprus is limited to the Republic of Cyprus and the British Bases, adding that these have not been used for offensive purposes. It also states that the Incirlik base in Turkey has not been used for similar purposes. According to the newspaper, NOTAMs were issued by the US and Turkey in March for the airspace around Cyprus and the Tympou airport, valid until April 12th. Additionally, Turkey has deployed F-16 fighter jets to Tympou. The report is based on information from Turkish Cypriot media and has not received official confirmation from the US. The reference to NOTAMs and the deployment of fighter jets suggests increased activity in the region, without proving a direct connection to operations against Iran.
