US - Davos: We will implement the trade agreement with the EU

US Commerce Secretary Howard Luttner wrote on X that the United States remains committed to implementing the US-EU trade agreement, following a meeting with European Commissioner Maros Sefcovic in Davos. This statement contrasts with recent threats by Donald Trump to impose tariffs on European countries and on Greenland. The European Parliament had suspended the approval process for the US-EU agreement in response to Trump's threats. However, after the threats were withdrawn and reference was made to a 'framework agreement' for Greenland, the situation appears to be returning to normal. The US-EU agreement aims to facilitate trade between the two economic blocs, but has faced opposition from various sides due to concerns about environmental impacts and labor rights. Luttner's statement signals an effort to restore confidence and continue negotiations.
