Uproar in DISY over Allegation Against Limassol MP – Emergency Meeting and Dismissal Scenarios

An uproar has erupted within the Democratic Rally (DISY) following a police report by a woman alleging assault by a Limassol MP during a trip to Athens. The party leadership has been informed and decided to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the MP's political future and the possibility of removing him from the upcoming parliamentary election ballot. The complaint concerns an incident allegedly taking place in a hotel in Athens, with the complainant sustaining injuries, as determined at a private hospital after her return to Cyprus. The Police are considering lifting the MP's parliamentary immunity. The case is being investigated as a case of domestic violence, and the Limassol TAE continues its investigations. The DISY leadership is awaiting the opinion of the Legal Service to determine further action. According to reports, party officials were unaware of the incident and were informed while attending an event in Kakopetria. The seriousness of the allegation has put the MP's political career within the party at risk.
