Unified Development of Larnaca Port and Marina Revived

The development of the Larnaca Port and Marina has been a long-term project, with discussions beginning as early as the mid-1990s. Initially, a study by a French professor proposed the development of the marina without privatization, as it was considered to be the most profitable in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Clerides government adopted the study but later abandoned the project. During the term of President Christofias, Larnaca continued to push for the unified development of the port and marina, based on the aforementioned studies. However, after that, interest in the project appeared to wane. Today, with the revival of the contract for the development of the port and marina, awarded to Kition Ocean Holdings Ltd and investor Panos Alexandrou, there is a last chance to implement this ambitious project, which is expected to contribute significantly to the local and national economy. The investor has publicly assured the project's implementation.
