Ukraine Advises Citizens Against Travel to Hungary Amidst Tensions

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is advising its citizens to avoid travel to Hungary, citing an inability to guarantee their safety due to arbitrary actions by Hungarian authorities. This move follows the arrest of seven employees of the Ukrainian central bank by Hungarian police, who were transporting a large sum of money (82 million dollars in cash and gold). Kyiv accuses Budapest of holding the employees hostage and demands their immediate release, while considering alternative routes for money transfers that do not pass through Hungarian territory. Hungary, for its part, is investigating money laundering and is seeking explanations from Ukraine regarding the transfer of funds. The situation has worsened the already strained relations between the two countries.
