UK Sovereign Base Areas Fully Aligned with Measures to Combat Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Cyprus

The administration of the UK Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) in Cyprus confirms its full alignment with the measures taken by the Republic of Cyprus to address the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease. Representatives from the SBAs are actively participating in the coordination committee meetings at the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Larnaca, ensuring full information and harmonization with the response measures. Additionally, precautionary measures have been taken, such as intensified patrols, checks, and the installation of additional disinfection points, in close coordination with the Veterinary Services of the Republic of Cyprus. Although there are no confirmed cases within the SBAs, the measures are precautionary to protect animal and community health. The SBA administration is committed to supporting the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus to limit the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
