Two Dead in Israel Strike on Lebanon

Two people were killed in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese authorities. The Israeli army announced that the target was a member of Hezbollah. The strikes continue despite the ceasefire agreed in November 2024, after a year of hostilities. The Lebanese Ministry of Health clarified that the victims were killed when their vehicle was attacked near the town of Jmaijmeh. The Israeli army claims the strikes are in response to violations of the ceasefire by Hezbollah and that it is targeting the organization's rearmament. Beirut, under pressure from the US, has committed to disarming Hezbollah, which is considered weakened after the war with Israel. The Lebanese army has also pledged to destroy Hezbollah's military infrastructure in a specific area by the end of 2025. A government meeting is scheduled for Thursday to review the situation, as well as a meeting of the ceasefire monitoring committee within the week, with the participation of Lebanon, Israel, the US, France and the UN. The Israeli Foreign Minister acknowledged Lebanon's efforts, but described them as insufficient. At least 350 people have been killed in Israeli military operations in Lebanon since the ceasefire began.
