Twelve Years of Testimony and Faith at Salamis Monastery

Twelve years have passed since the enthronement of Archimandrite Ioannis as Abbot of the Holy Monastery of the Apostle Barnabas in Salamis, which is under occupation. The enthronement was performed by the late Archbishop Chrysostomos II and marked the beginning of a period of offering, faith, and endurance. Despite the difficult conditions, the Monastery continues to operate, with the Divine Liturgy being celebrated monthly, keeping the flame of faith alive. Abbot Ioannis emphasized the importance of the Monastery as a symbol of Hellenism and Christianity in Cyprus, as it is where the tomb of the Apostle Barnabas is located. Furthermore, he referred to the granting of the Holy Church of Saint Anthony to the Monastery, with the support of Archbishop Chrysostomos II, and the renovation work that was carried out, creating a functional and welcoming space for the brotherhood and visitors.
