Turkey Reconsiders Drilling and Energy Moves in the Eastern Mediterranean, Reports Say

Turkey is reassessing its energy moves in the Eastern Mediterranean, including drilling and seismic research, amid growing geopolitical tensions. According to reports in the Turkish press, Ankara recognizes that its previous policies led to the formation of a front by Greece, Cyprus, Israel and Egypt. There are concerns about a possible change in the energy priorities of the European Union and the impact this will have on existing and planned pipelines, such as TANAP and TurkStream. Alternative scenarios are being considered, such as the EastMed Pipeline and liquefied natural gas infrastructure in Cyprus and Greece, which may proceed without Turkey's participation.
