Turkey Demands All Kurdish Armed Groups Disarm

Turkey is demanding that all Kurdish armed groups, "including those in Syria," lay down their arms, according to a statement by Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler. This statement reiterates Ankara's demand for the removal of Kurdish forces from the region, considering them a threat to its national security. Guler referred to the PKK's decision to end its armed struggle, but stressed that this is not enough and that all affiliated groups must disarm unconditionally. Turkey seeks the complete dissolution of Kurdish armed groups and the integration of their fighters into society. Ankara considers the armed Kurdish groups in Syria, such as the YPG and the SDF, to be an extension of the PKK and seeks to prevent their consolidation in the region. Turkey has carried out several military operations in Syria aimed at neutralizing Kurdish forces. At the same time, Turkey is putting pressure on the implementation of the agreement between the Kurds and the Syrian authorities, which provides for the integration of Kurdish institutions into the central government. However, negotiations for the implementation of the agreement have not made significant progress.
