Donald Trump has made a series of statements that are causing strong reactions, threatening military action against Colombia and reiterating claims of US control over Venezuela. Trump accused Colombian President Gustavo Petro of being involved in the production and trafficking of cocaine to the United States. Furthermore, Trump claimed that the US “governs” Venezuela, following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. When asked who governs Venezuela, he replied that “that means we govern.” Trump also warned Iran that it would face a “very hard” hit if protesters were killed during ongoing demonstrations in the country.
