Trump Backs Down in Minneapolis: Federal Agents to Withdraw, Bowino Demoted

The US federal government is backing down in the Minneapolis case, following strong criticism of its anti-immigration policy. Donald Trump announced that federal agents will begin to withdraw from the city and that Greg Bowino will be demoted. These changes come after the death of Alex Pretty, a nurse who was shot by police during a protest. The case sparked outrage and allegations of police brutality. Trump stated that he had a “very good” phone conversation with the governor of Minnesota and the mayor of Minneapolis. The mayor announced that the withdrawal of federal agents will begin immediately. Tom Homan, ICE Executive Director, has been sent to Minneapolis to oversee the withdrawal and ensure the continuation of the anti-immigration policy. The judiciary is also examining the Pretty case and is expected to rule soon on the suspension of the operation.
