Traffic Congestion in Paphos: Immediate Priority to Solve the Problem

The traffic situation in Paphos is rapidly deteriorating, turning the daily lives of residents into a challenge. The problem is no longer limited to peak tourist seasons or holidays, but is a permanent reality. This has led the Police, the municipal authority, and the Traffic Study Agency to make solving the traffic congestion their top priority. The situation on the main roads of Paphos and the surrounding area is becoming increasingly difficult, while road accidents are increasing. Although Paphos does not yet face the traffic congestion of Nicosia and Limassol, the worsening of the problem is causing concern. Population growth, the development of commercial activities, and renovations have burdened the road network. Particular reference is made to the roundabouts of Konia and Paphos Hospital, where the situation is considered dangerous due to increased traffic and frequent collisions. Police crews are on these points daily, trying to facilitate traffic, however delays and accidents are a common occurrence. In addition, malfunctions are recorded on other roads, such as Silos Road, Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue, and the roads leading to the shopping center. The competent authorities recognize the need for immediate action to address the problem and are considering possible solutions to improve traffic flow in Paphos.
