Tourism Plans for Famagusta

The University of Uludağ in Turkey, in collaboration with the “university” of Eastern Mediterranean in the occupied territories, is preparing a study on the tourism sector and economic development, which also includes the tourism prospects of Famagusta. The study has already progressed, and a meeting has been held in the occupied territories with the participation of those involved, where the findings were discussed. The question arises as to whether the study is merely an academic exercise or has been commissioned by the occupation regime. If the latter is true, this suggests that there is planning for the Famagusta area. The study focuses on exploiting the tourism potential of the region, which raises concerns about possible changes to the status quo.
