TOM Warns of Dangerous Vehicles - Risk of Injury and Fire

The Department of Road Transport (TOM) is warning of dangerous vehicles, according to information received from the Consumer Protection Service. These vehicles have been identified through the EU's Rapid Alert System (Safety Gate) and pose risks such as injury, electric shock, fire, and environmental pollution. The list of dangerous vehicles includes passenger cars, passenger vans, electric bicycles, electric scooters, buses, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles. TOM calls on manufacturers, agents, distributors, importers, and sellers to inform the Department about the possible availability of such vehicles in the Cypriot market. In addition, economic operators are obliged to take all necessary measures to recall the dangerous vehicles, in accordance with current legislation. Consumers who own these specific vehicles are urged to contact the manufacturer or dealer for instructions and, if deemed necessary, to stop using them and return them to the point of purchase. In the event of a refusal to respond by economic operators, consumers are urged to submit a written complaint to the Consumer Protection Service. Information on dangerous vehicles is available on the Safety Gate website, using the alert number of each product.
