Kremlin Rejects Allegations of Navalny Poisoning with Frog Toxin

Published February 16, 2026, 17:24

The Kremlin has vehemently rejected accusations from five European countries (Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands) that the Russian state was responsible for the death of Alexei Navalny, using frog toxin. The countries stated that analysis of samples from Navalny's body confirmed the presence of epibatidine, a toxin not found in Russia. The Kremlin dismissed the allegations as biased and unsubstantiated, while the Russian Foreign Ministry attributed them to propaganda. This case follows previous accusations of Russia using poisons against dissidents, such as the Skripal case and the murder of Litvinenko, which Russia also denies. A group of 15 countries is calling for a transparent investigation into Navalny's death, while his widow, Yulia Navalnaya, continues to seek justice.
