Three Years of Promises and Delays: Families Await 'KtiZΩ' Support

The 'KtiZΩ' housing scheme is facing significant delays three years after its implementation. The core issue is the lack of a separate plan from the Central Equal Burden Distribution Agency (C.E.B.D.A.) to support applicants unable to cover their contribution to reconstruction. This has resulted in dozens of families remaining in rental accommodation, while the state continues to pay rent instead of directly funding the renovation. AKEL has proposed the creation of such a plan from the outset, emphasizing that the majority of beneficiaries are pensioners and the elderly with limited resources. The Department of Urban Planning committed to sending the new 'KtiZΩ' guide to the C.E.B.D.A. within February, to proceed with funding. Currently, five apartment buildings are under construction, with deliveries expected in spring and summer. The Refugee Affairs Committee will review the matter at the end of February, requesting a specific timeline.
