This is the elite “dog sled patrol” of Greenland that Trump mocks – Patrolling at -55°C

The elite 'Sirius Dog Sled Patrol' of the Royal Danish Navy, which patrols the icy Greenland with dog sleds, has come under the spotlight following comments by Donald Trump, who questioned Greenland's defense capabilities. The unit, consisting of six teams of two soldiers each, patrols an area equal in size to Britain and France combined, in extremely cold conditions (-55°C). Trump mocked the strengthening of Greenland's defense with an additional dog sled, underestimating the effectiveness of this patrol method. However, the Sirius unit is highly trained and equipped to survive and operate in this difficult environment, using traditional methods of movement in combination with modern technological means, such as drones. The unit's soldiers cover an average of 30 kilometers per day, facing threats from wild animals, such as polar bears, and potential intrusions. Training is particularly demanding, with strict tests of physical and mental endurance, and service lasts 26 months with limited visits to civilization. The Sirius unit is a significant element of Greenland's defense and contributes to the surveillance of the region.
