Theophany Celebrations in Ayia Napa Marred by Lost Cross, Later Recovered

An unexpected incident occurred during the Theophany celebrations in Ayia Napa, similar to one that took place in Limassol. During the traditional blessing of the waters ceremony, the golden cross fell to the seabed and was not immediately found. More than 30 swimmers, including an 8-year-old boy and a woman, entered the sea to retrieve it. Eventually, the cross was recovered and handed over to Metropolitan Basil, who awarded the swimmer who found it, as well as all those who participated in the dive. The incident did not overshadow the celebration, with the release of white doves adding to the atmosphere.
