Theophany Celebrations in Ayia Napa: Lost and Found Cross

During the blessing of the waters ceremony in Ayia Napa, the gold cross thrown into the sea was not immediately found, resulting in wooden crosses being thrown afterwards. Eventually, the gold cross was found and awarded to the swimmer who located it, while silver crosses were given to the other participants. The ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, and the Metropolitan Bishop of Constantia and Famagusta, Basil. The President of the House wished for a good Epiphany and redemption for the country, while expressing her satisfaction with her presence at the ceremony. Metropolitan Bishop Basil wished many happy years to the Cypriot people and a renewal of baptism, while also expressing hope for the reunification of Cyprus and the performance of the service in occupied Famagusta. The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, thanked the people and the President of the House for their presence. The Epiphany celebrations in Ayia Napa are an important religious and cultural event for the region and Cyprus.
