UK Royal Navy to Lead International Force to Secure Strait of Hormuz

The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom is expected to lead an international initiative, known as the 'Hormuz Coalition', aimed at ensuring the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This initiative comes amid growing concerns about global shipping security and is part of international efforts to maintain stability in this vital maritime route. Britain plans to deploy mine countermeasures vessels, in cooperation with the United States and France, with some of these vessels being autonomous. This highlights the increasing use of advanced technologies in maritime security. The move is in response to rising tensions in the region and the need to protect international trade flows. Alongside this, the United Kingdom has offered to host a summit with the participation of more than 30 countries that have already expressed their intention to cooperate on securing navigation in the area. The joint statement underscores the importance of maintaining free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical point for global trade and energy security, as a significant percentage of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas exports pass through it. Any disruption in the region could have significant impacts on energy prices and the global supply chain.
